Another One Bites the Dust – Another Hire Gets Leeched In

NORTH COUNTRY MORGUE – Karl finds himself in the mood to ruin the business and weigh down his employees with even more employees who he does not need.

Karl, as the general manager of the North Country Morgue, seeks what is best for the morgue – the equipment, the staff, and the well-being of patients who frequently visit to mourn their loved ones. At least, that is what he claims to do, but his employees understand his logic otherwise.

Haslia said, “Another new employee? What’s wrong with the 20 that we have, who are enough to run this morgue? He’s slowly killing us and the morgue from the inside out – the new employees are just not like the old ones.”

The seasoned autopsy technician has worked at the morgue for nearly a decade and been subject to a number of authorities and staff members, each posing their own pros and cons with the company. But never ever has she been so downhearted and discontent with a series of new hires.

“These new guys come in and have no idea what to do. It’s like we have to babysit them and hold their hand until the moment they leave the morgue. And some others, all they do is complain to and around Dolly, who then spills the tea to me. And I just don’t know what to do anymore.”

Karl was not one to take the initiative in checking references before making a new hire. All an applicant had to do was fill out personal details, drop off the application, and get a request for a shallow interview moments later. Arlo, though the assistant, was not a part of every hire because some… are Karl’s friends, and he knows them. So he hires them.

What is the lesson in this? If the hiring manager knows you well enough and you’re looking for a job, he will give you a job without any further input. You do not even need to complete any necessary certifications for the job, and it is yours.

But Arlo knew well enough that more staff was not what the morgue needed. But he would not voice his opinion to Karl, for he knew he would not be heard. If Karl would not listen to Beverly his bookkeeper, why would he listen to young Arlo?

Even though the morgue associated Karl as its manager, the morgue staff looked to Arlo as their manager and, if the most dire of circumstances, Karl. But, because Arlo was not actually heard – he would not dare to argue with Karl who would just say, “They will fill in while this other employee is out” – he let Karl reign the hiring process and let poor quality members join the team.

Of the members we have already visited, Arlo was not interested in hiring Terri or Lyle because of the energy they gave off. It turned out that Terri was basically a psychopath, dual wielding knives for prepping meals of decadent human feet and onion blossoms and asserting that she was being attacked for being of a different color, though other staff happened to be of a similar complexion or darker… Lyle ended up being a pathological liar who made the perfect leaning tower of Pisa against tables in the foyer.
